I was catching up on my daily blog reading and ran across an article from Always Learning. I really enjoy reading this blog because it covers a wide range of topics and is very well written. The post that I found interesting was all about innovation in schools and the importance of making sure we as educators are keeping up with the times. I found it really interesting especially the section discussing the 10 Faces of Innovation”. I believe that I am an experimenter.

I took a risk this year and began writing my own stories in Spanish to teach vocabulary and grammar. If you are familiar with TPRS, I basically began doing my own spin on it and even though it was a big risk and I was terrified my students would end up leaving my classroom this year knowing nothing, it worked out. The students learned more than I could have ever dreamed. Even though there were some mistakes made along the way I took the risk and it was worthwhile. Now I can make next year even better because I know what worked and what didn’t.

So, I’m an experimenter. What are you and what are your opinions on the whole idea?
